What Type of Genealogist Are You?

What Type of Genealogist Are You?

What type of “genealogist” are you?

Genealogists make a career capturing a story so that future generations can learn about us. Even though there may be photos that we don't want to be remembered, those are the ones with the best stories to be told! Unfortunately, not every family has a genealogist, but every family wants to share their memories with generations to come.

Celebrating the Spirit of Christmas Past

Celebrating the Spirit of Christmas Past

As you dig into your personal cache of treasured holiday memories, here are a few ways you can bring the spirit of Christmas to life using old photos.

As Charles Dickens showed us in his classic novella A Christmas Carol, reflecting on memories of holidays past can help guide us on our path to creating joyful memories in our present and future. Remembering America's Heroes Through Photos

Remembering America's Heroes Through Photos

Nov. 11 is a day that we reflect and give thanks for our brave military heroes.

Every year on Nov. 11, millions of people across the U.S. take time to reflect and give thanks to the countless Americans over the centuries who have fought bravely for our country in times of war, kept the peace, and engaged in humanitarian efforts as well. At Vivid-Pix, the activity to remember and honor our military heroes has particular significance: CEO Rick Voight is father to an active-duty daughter, and as a company, we take the greatest pride in supporting veterans' service organizations. Part of this includes volunteering and donating to the Patriots for Disabled Divers organization, a group of volunteers who work with scuba diving centers and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors to help physically and psychologically affected patriots when they come home.

Documenting and sharing trips and summer happenings can be a great way to help connect with friends and family over your travels, but be careful: Experts say that "oversharing" pictures can have some unintended consequences.

Tree Photography: it's even possible in New York City - by Amy Horton

Sometimes you don’t know how what you’re missing until it’s gone.

That might sound like something out of the diary of a scorned lover, but what I am referring to is trees. Growing up in Sacramento, California, trees were not just something you saw at the local park or nature reserve. Topiaries lined the sidewalks of downtown streets and filled front yards, backyards, shopping malls - you name it! In fact, someone did name Sacramento the “City of Trees” because of the fact that it contains the most per capita (that’s per person), in the entire world. There’s even a highway-side water tower proclaiming this namesake.

Father’s Day: A time to RESTORE some memories - by Amy Horton

Father’s Day: A time to RESTORE some memories - by Amy Horton

For Father’s Day this year, I decided to put a digital spin on an analog favorite and retouch some old photographs of my family. Since my dad still has a flip phone, using Instagram or Snapchat filters were out of the question. For this task, I used Vivid-Pix’s RESTORE software to correct and freshen up these dusty memories.
